Immanuel Kant
A black comedy and a sharp critique of European civilization. Thomas Bernhard portrays the great modern philosopher on an imaginary ocean voyage toward the New World, accompanied by his wife, a servant, and a parrot. Stripped of grand philosophical illusions, the ship functions as a crowded raft of neurotics and snobs, exposing a society that speaks of morals but can no longer live by them.
